Miss Ethereal Rose

Thanks for adding me to the owners list.  Old #29 has seen better days.  I got to her Just in time but her history is a bit of a mystery.  The previous owner said he owned her for eight or more years  but then lacked some basic knowledge of the boat.  He also did not go into detail of where he sailed her or who owned her before him.  The registration was in Tennessee which I found odd, and the transom had Coco Cay, Bahamas as it home port.  I am not sure how she ended up in Oriental NC where I came across her.  I am not sure about the name and will most likely change it.  As for the boat, lets just say its a major project.  I knew this going into it so I am not disappointed just yet.  With that said I am finding every part of the boat to need major work.  As bad as I knew it was in the beginning everything is turning over to be much worse off.  Currently I am working on the rudder which had a crack on the leading edge.  My first thought was to remove it from the boat so I could work on it.  Clean out the crack, close it and glass over it.  Not the case.  Once I got into it I found the weld had broken allowing the rudder to rotate on the shaft.  So now I am into a complete tear down of the rudder.  If you ever wondered what the inside of a P35 rudder looks like I have pictures I will send.  At any rate I am set to be the next Rosco.  You may want to make a section of Projects by Pete as I will have lots of them.

I am still in the tear down phase of the project.  I have the engine out, rudder and center board off.  All the deck hardware is coming off, along with wood and trim.  The interior I wanted to leave till after I got here in the water and figured I could work on that while sailing her.  That may still happen but its being gutted for now, or at least up to the forward bulkhead.  The wiring was not to bad but it was in the way so I just started cutting and did not stop until it was all out.  I am trying to get down to where everything on the boat is in good condition and will stay.  However it is taking longer to get there, partly because there is nothing on the boat in usable condition.

One more thing, the mast that came with the boat was V shaped.  That is the base and head were only a few feet apart.  Long story on how it got that way (I can tell you later).  So I wanted to let everyone who is in the know to keep an eye out for a mast.  I got lots of time to find one before I will be forced to buy new.

At any rate she will sail again, its just a matter of time now.  I have lots of pics on my facebook page.  If you are on there look me up.
