The original or PO had installed this sound / heat insulation in the engine compartment. It was becoming a mess to maintain and falling apart. So, I took the cabinet front off and cleaned it all off. A vacuum worked well. I stretched this project out over three weeks just working some on the weekends. Made a big different in the sound and the cost was just right. Last update 08/20/2010 |

A before look and in bad shape |
Stripping it all out. What a mess |
I pulled the front of the cabinet off with the doors and drawer openings. You just have to pull this off for any real engine area work. |
You don't really have to get it clean just so the new insulation will fit well. |
I choose to work with the stuff at Lowes. Came in a 4'x8' sheet and was able to cut it with a knife. Price was right. |
|
The cabinet front finished up nicely. Used SS screws and 2" washers. |
I gave the front a good cleaning and waxing. |
Now for a lot of patience in getting in and fitting the insulation to all those difficult places in the the engine compartment. |
Still finishing up the small places. |
