My old Genoa was showing it's age and
ware beyond repair.
Original
measurements for the ULMER 150% Genoa:
Luff - 38'-1"
Leech - 36'-2"
Foot - 21'-3"
I found a used 150% NORTH genoa for sale
over on the West coast of FL..
New
(used) measurements for the NORTH 150%
Genoa:
Luff -
39'-0"
Leech - 37'-11"
Foot - 21'-9"
The old and new sails were different sizes.
I had a difference of
11"
to deal with
on the new longer Luff for the NORTH Sail.
(The picture shows the original Genoa
configured and the
possible excess area at the HEAD that could
be used.)
As you can see from the above pictures, I needed to shorten the Luff on
the new sail (have a sail shop take 6" out of the foot) or shorten the
FaMet Furler Luff tension line.
I choose to trim the length of the 3/16" cable and crimp on a new tumble.
I figured that the FaMet would just be long enough to hold the new Genoa.
I trimmed the length, crimped a new tumble and reassembled
the tension line in the rod.
While I had the cable out, I cleaned it up and lubed the track.
