Haul Out 2008

Hauling Out Mikhaya in Nov-Dec 2008 for a bottom job, painting the topsides, painting the deck, and teak and of course other stuff....

Pineda Point Marina is about 6 miles North.

I had already started sanding the teak and removed the name from the stern  The ICW here was kinda low so I was in the mud, black mud.  Last haul out was in Nov 2003.

Hull & Bottom condition since the 2004 Haul Out

To get into this marina lift I had to take down the wind generator, lower the boom and disconnect the back stay

Several problems with the lift resulted with a fire in the lift engine.  It was put out, rewired and back in business in 45 min.  ???

Eight years of Florida ICW mud and growth

The lightning strip was well liked by the barnacles.  The through-hulls looked to be in good shape.  Have not seen the center board yet.

The prop had to be scraped by a diver the morning before I hulled out

You can see there's is a lot of clean up to do on the prop.

The grounding strip cleaned up nice

Engine intake configuration.   First time I've seen these ...blisters.  Not sure what I will do about these right now

The stern ladder mount and fuel tank breather port. You can just make out the hull number in this picture

While I was up sanding away my teak, I got to wandering why I couldn't drop my center board?

Secret ingredient for the bottom paint. Those Florida barnacles' love to hate it.

Back in the water

The water level in the marina has risen 6" so we decided to give it a go to see if we could get her on the river and home

Wax paper for the new paint job

A final scrape on the board cavity

Center board gets a paint job.  Time allowed for drying before lowering in the water and mud.  I did get out but not without running through the mud and having to keel over quite a bit.  Trip home took an hour
