RUB-RAILS
I added a teak
rub rail. The rail was cut from a 2” x 12” x 15’ rough teak plank. It
was planed and sawn into four strips giving a slight taper on the top
and bottom sides. The rails were finger jointed and glued with West
System. The 29’ rails were attached over the painted cove strip area
with counter sunk self-tapping screws and 5200. By starting at the
bow, the rails are easily bent along the hull. The rail ends are
tapered and a ¾” hollow stainless cap is screwed onto the rails.
Layout the stainless cap before pre-drilling the teak to make sure the
holes do not line up.
